From Football Dreams to Finding Purpose
That single-minded dedication to sport? I lived it. I was the kid who slept with polished football boots under his bed and lived and breathed it. That drive took me from English football academies to American universities, earning an NCAA Division 1 scholarship at the University of Massachusetts. Looking back, those years weren’t just about football – they were my first lessons in peak performance and mental preparation.

An Unexpected Turn East
When injuries ended my playing career, what felt like failure became my greatest teacher. A planned trip to Thailand evolved into a twelve-year immersion into mindfulness, meditation and a fresh way of looking at things. After many visits to meditation retreats and learning in Buddhist temples, I discovered something remarkable: that elusive ‘zone’ state athletes occasionally stumble upon? It could be trained and developed through specific mindset practices.
